Technology is undoubtedly upon us ...

Ever heard of a robo-advisor? It's where you have automated online processes that guide clients to a successful retirement ...
The rise of the robo-advisor should be a good use of technology, but a sit-down, face-to-face will always be best!

There are also various pension apps available, plus we have had open banking for a while now, so it's all moving forward quickly. Technology is undoubtedly upon us in the financial world.
"It certainly has its place too!"
The government is working with private firms who have been trying to put together dashboards where you can see all your pensions in one place. The idea is obviously a good one as less time collating information and more time planning can only be a good thing for all concerned.
There are anxieties about the accuracy of information on these dashboards, what to do with it when you have it and what if the technology fails? Does your pension disappear into the ether?
However, technology is at the heart of research for investment managers and financial advisers like me. It collates large amounts of data very quickly and in a format to help with decisions in a quicker, more effective way.
But much like modern banking and the question of physical branches existing, the good old fashioned sit-down and talk it through with your financial advisor is still a highly effective way of planning for a very comfortable retirement.
